Pick Your Poison!

What’s Your Pick?

When stepping foot in the truck community, it doesn’t take much time to notice the fierce competition among American truck manufacturers and their respective consumers. The primary competitors involved in this battle include Ford, Dodge, and GM (Chevy & GMC). Each of these companies are powerhouses in the American automotive manufacturing world and because of their historic excellence, people tend to get pretty defensive about their favorites. In this analysis, we will cover the claims made by each opponent to hopefully get closer to getting an idea of who the true winner is.

Before we look at the various points made by each fan base, we need to analyze the history of each manufacturer to get some background knowledge. Each company has their golden ages and their times of crisis, so we will be unbiased in each analysis to allow a fair playing field. Another note to make is that the history of Chevy & GMC will be covered individually, but compared to Ford and Dodge under the name GM. The company we will analyze first is Ford because of it being the oldest independent manufacturer on the list.

Ford Motor Company was founded on June 16th, 1903 after Henry Ford asked twelve investors to assist him in the creation of the eventual multinational conglomerate. After some investor disputes and a few lawsuits, Ford Motor Company previaled and released it’s first automobile in 1903, the Model A. The car successfully sold, however, quite a few overheating and transmission flaws needed to be attended to. Henry Ford released a few more revamped models until a few years later, when the Model T hit the roads in 1908… (work still in progress, please don’t publish or delete!)
