Rig-vestments: Trucks Dominate Kelley’s 2019 Best Resale List

Unless you happen to own a classic Ferrari, nearly all vehicles are vehicles are considered liabilities. But some hold their worth better than others.

Hail to the king: The Toyota Tacoma has topped KBB’s best resale list for the past 5 years

For the 5th year in a row, 4x4s have dominated Kelley Blue Book’s best resale list. In fact, of the 10 vehicles on the list, nine are trucks and SUVs.

Here’s the 2019 list:

Vehicle Resale value after 60 months
2019 Toyota Tacoma 62.2%
2019 Jeep Wrangler 58.3%
2019 Toyota Tundra 56.9%
2019 GMC Sierra 56.7%
2019 Toyota 4Runner 56.3%
2019 Chevrolet Silverado 53.7%
2019 Honda Ridgeline 51.3%
2019 Chevrolet Colorado 50.9%
2019 Ford F-Series 50.6%
2019 Porsche Macan 50.0%

As usual, the mighty Tacoma topped the list, a position it has occupied for the past 5 years. According to KBB, excellent build quality and good ol’ Toyota reliability make the midsize truck unmatched in resale value. So much so that the Taco retains almost 70% of its value after 36 months of first owner use, and over 62% after 60 months.

The second spot is a different story. This year, Jeep managed to wrangle the position away from Tundra thanks to high consumer satisfaction for the Wrangler. As for the sole outlier on the list, the Porsche Macan managed to unseat the Subaru WRX to claim the 10th spot.

So if you’re in the market for a new truck with the best resale value, look no further than KBB’s list.
