South Texas Turns Up the Temperature If there is one thing the Rio Grande Valley knows how to do, it is building trucks. On May 2, 2026, Rio Heat made its debut in Mercedes, Texas, bringing together some of the cleanest and most creative custom trucks in the Lone Star State. From lifted diesels sitting on polished wheels to body-dropped street trucks with paint jobs that looked a mile deep, the event immediately proved that South Texas remains one of the hottest truck building regions in the country. Walking through the grounds, it became obvious that Rio Heat was not your average local truck show. The level of detail found throughout the venue rivaled what you would expect to see at some of the biggest events in the nation. Builders showed up with trucks that had clearly received hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of attention. Custom suspension work, flawless body modifications, intricate interiors, and engine compartments cleaner than most living rooms were found in every corner of the show. Subscribe Our Weekly Newsletter For diesel enthusiasts, there was no shortage of machinery to admire. Cummins swaps, new body Fords with insane lifts and wheels, and bagged diesels represented every style imaginable. The best builds were trucks that looked ready for a magazine cover while still being able to tow the rest of their builds home and go to work on Monday. What separates Rio Heat from many events is the atmosphere. The show carried a distinctly South Texas personality. Builders, spectators, and vendors all seemed to share the same appreciation for craftsmanship and individuality. Conversations happened everywhere as owners swapped ideas, discussed parts combinations, and explained the countless hours invested into their projects. It’s the kind of environment that reminds you why truck culture continues to thrive. For a first-year event, Rio Heat came out swinging. The grounds were packed with quality trucks and enthusiastic spectators, creating an atmosphere that felt far more established than a debut show. Builders made the trip from all over Texas, neighboring states, and even as far away as California to support the new event, bringing with them a level of craftsmanship that immediately elevated the show’s reputation. From meticulously detailed show trucks to wild custom builds that stopped attendees in their tracks, the quality on display exceeded expectations for an inaugural gathering. Rio Heat was not just testing the waters; they were setting the bar for what has been a rather slow show season. If organizers can build on what they started in Mercedes this year, South Texas may have just gained another must-attend stop on the annual truck show calendar. At its core, Rio Heat remains a celebration of truck culture in one of its established strongholds. The trucks were outstanding, the crowd was engaged, and the passion was impossible to miss. The organizers set the bar high and created an experience that left attendees looking forward to what comes next. If the inaugural Rio Heat is any indication, this show has all the makings of becoming a fixture in the Texas truck scene for years to come. Thanks to everyone in South Texas and to the guys at RGV Trucks for having us out to experience their culture! Total 0 Shares Share 0 Tweet 0 Pin it 0 Share 0
