One Lost Bet, One Seriously Lifted GMC

NSK Kustoms’ GMC Denali is a Sure Thing

Some truck builds start with a lifelong dream. Others start with a rendering, a pile of parts, and a carefully planned budget. Brett Burnett’s 2025 GMC Denali started because his buddy won a bet.

After Brett lost a wager on the Kansas City Chiefs losing the Super Bowl, the wheels were set in motion for his new build. The result is appropriately named Lost Bet, and Brett, owner of NSK Kustoms in Independence, Missouri, didn’t waste any time getting it together. The entire truck came together in just one week with roughly $40,000 invested in the transformation. That’s one heck of a consequence for losing a bet.

Lost Bet’s white exterior stays clean while getting just enough custom treatment to separate it from every other late-model GMC rolling down the highway. Up front, a Royalty Core AT4 RCLX grille sets the tone, backed by Bodyguard A2L bumpers. NSK Kustoms paint-matched the bumpers, mirrors, and bed steps, while BAMFLED rock lights handle the nighttime glow. A HornBlasters spare tire delete cleans things up underneath.

But the grille is where Brett really leaned into the joke. Built into it is an illuminated “Lost Bet” message, making sure anyone checking out the truck knows there’s a story behind this big GMC. And big it is.

A Wicked MFG 8-inch lift gets the Denali up where it belongs, with Fox shocks controlling things front and rear. The suspension was installed by NSK Kustoms, and the lift received its own dose of show-truck detail with Illusion Light Blue and Peacock Sapphire powdercoating by The Powder House.

Underneath all that altitude is a set of massive 28-inch American Force N26 Notch wheels wrapped in 38-inch Fury M/T rubber. RC1 Concepts brakes are fitted front and rear, while LOGIQ helper bags and an onboard air system help keep the truck useful when Brett puts it to work hauling.

And this thing definitely gets driven. Lost Bet has already made the rounds at SEMA, iDrive, Atlantic City Truck Meet, Scrapin’ The Coast, Burnout Wars, Ice Cream Cruise, Spencer’s Annual Showdown, and Boost and BBQ.

There is one thing Brett would change: the fuel capacity. Running out of fuel while hauling apparently taught him that lesson the hard way, and his solution is simple—a bigger Titan fuel tank. But the funniest lesson from the whole project? According to Brett: “Never buy a GMC; buy a Ford.”

Coming from the guy who just dropped $40k building this Denali, we’re guessing that lost bet still stings a little.
