Build Your Dream Truck: Ignore the Noise and Follow Your Passion

The older I get, the more I realize that the most noise comes from the cheap seats. I’ve been blessed to have been involved in some various forms of automotive culture for the last 25-ish years. As far back as I can remember, I recall being at the local dirt track with my dad and his hobby stock race car. I remember spending my week nights tweaking, adjusting, fixing paint, and prepping the car for the next race.

I remember when I bought my first truck. There’s nothing like the feeling of freedom for the first time or the feeling that came from walking out the door and knowing that the keys to the pickup in the driveway were in your pocket. Windows down, radio up, and the hum of the tires on the pavement.

And yet, even then, I realized that no matter what you do, someone will always tell you how to do it better. Add a lift? Can’t tow with it now. Put it on wide wheels? Should have made it a prerunner. Put it on a nice set of cast wheels? Not cool unless they’re forged.

But as I’ve grown, I’ve also realized that you just have to let that roll off your back—to keep moving, to keep growing, and most importantly to keep chasing YOUR dreams. Because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the opinion of the one who’s name is on the title. So screw what the haters say, keep on doing what you do best. Here’s to building your truck your way.
