Stainless Diesel’s Pro Mod Is Just About Ready For Race Season
001 Stainless Diesel Pro Mod Cummins Corvette It won’t be long now… With Stainless Diesel’s split window Pro Mod Corvette in the highly capable hands of HammerTech Racecars, look for driver Johnny Gilbert and his team to be out in force at the ODSS season opener, Rudy’s, on April 21. If you recall, Johnny took a wild ride into the sand pit at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza back in August, with the car sustaining extensive body damage in the process. However, the chassis was deemed salvageable at the time and is now in the final stages of its resurrection—along with a few updates. The Stainless crew will see you in North Carolina!
Leave it to Tommy Hassler, builder and driver of a Wild, Triple-CP3 6.4L Power Stroke, to piece together an equally awesome Blue Oval. His 6.4L-powered Ford is equipped with triple CP3’s. The high-pressure pumps mount in a custom gear housing and will be belt-driven off of the crankshaft. While we don’t know what the truck’s turbo (or turbo combination) will be, the absence of a firewall leads us to believe this project will be much more serious than a street-type puller. Also check out those clear rocker boxes. There is nothing quite like peering into a V-8 engine to watch the valvetrain operate.
Fleece Performance Powerflo In Tank Diesel Lift Pump Finally, an in-tank lift pump for late first-gen and second-gen 12-valve owners. Fleece Performance Engineering’s latest PowerFlo lift pump fits 5.9L Cummins-powered ’91-’98 Dodge trucks and combines reliability with a performance upgrade. The unit’s use of dual gerotor pumps means it’s capable of supporting up to 800 hp and its in-tank location means it’s not as susceptible to gel-ups as aftermarket chassis-mounted fuel systems are. Additionally, its OEM-style active fill bucket technology eliminates the need for draw straws and tank sumps, which often have ¼-tank issues. The PowerFlo pump comes with an integrated fuel sender, 16 feet of push lock hose and all necessary AN fittings, a block-off plate for the OEM mechanical pump, wiring harness and fuse taps, and a flange tank seal.
Domestic Renewable Diesel Capacity Could More Than Double In 2 Years
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, domestic renewable diesel capacity could more than double through 2025. The two biggest factors in growing the U.S.’s renewable diesel capacity are increasing targets for both state and federal renewable fuel programs, and biomass-based diesel tax credits, the latter program having had its diesel tax credits extended through 2024 thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. At the end of 2022, the EIA estimated renewable diesel production capacity at 170,000 barrels per day (or 2.6 billion gallons per year). The administration stated that if all projected programs begin as scheduled those production numbers could jump to 384,000 barrels per day (or 5.9 billion gallons a year) by the end of 2025.
Nissan To Use EV Trucks For New Vehicle Deliveries
Nissan is among the first manufacturers to trial battery-electric, heavy-duty trucks for new vehicle deliveries. Two versions are currently being used to move new vehicles from the port of Los Angeles to area dealerships. Chris Styles, vice president of Supply Chain Management, Nissan North America, was quoted as saying: “Exploring the use of BEV trucks for new vehicle delivery is an important milestone in our journey toward carbon neutrality throughout our business.” Appropriately, the first dealership deliveries included a drop-off for several of Nissan’s all-new EV crossover, the 2023 Ariya. Also fittingly, the BEV big-rigs appear to be limited to making relatively short route deliveries at the present time.
