Post Rona, The King of all Diesel Events is Back—With a Vengeance
It’s UCC Week! Here’s a look at 2021’s event: After a one-year hiatus, U.C.C. returned to the friendly confines of Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis—and somehow the movers and shakers behind this one-of-a-kind event found a way to make it even better. Not only was the DPI Expo up and running all weekend, along with an extensive entry list for the show ‘n shine, but a full Outlaw Diesel Super Series show was interweaved with all of the U.C.C. action.
Keeping with the UCC theme, here’s an old article on Donavan Harris and DDP’s UCC Truck. It’s got a new owner (sorta) and a new driver this year. Check out our article from years past: After the initial build they tackled the inaugural UCC, finishing in the mid to upper range in each event for a fourth-place overall finish. They came back strong in 2017 and finished in the top three in the drag race and sled pull for a second fourth-place overall finish
The Ultimate UCC Flashback – Final Day coverage from UCC 2016
The field of competitors had narrowed entering the third day of the inaugural Ultimate Callout Challenge, but the competition was still very intense with 16 trucks making hooks in the sled-pull competition. Knowing that a lot of points were up for grabs with a good pull—and that even the leaders could falter, as happened the day before on the drag strip—drivers were willing to push their trucks harder than ever to earn maximum points and challenge for the win.
A look back at 2018’s event: or the third year in a row, this no-holds-barred event pitted North America’s top shops and diesel enthusiasts against each other to see whose truck could be the king of the dyno, dragstrip and pulling track. The big prize, though, would go to the combined winner, the truck that could place well enough in each event to take the overall victory. Here, there cannot be any weak links.
Another truck that always puts a show on at UCC. Last Minute Hooker: Many will immediately recognize the charred front clip on this ’06 Silverado and remember when it went up in flames at Ultimate Callout Challenge 2019. But in 2021 it became known for something even bigger: being the quickest 4×4 Duramax on the globe.
Kenny Bruner’s ‘06 Dodge Ram is unquestionably over-the-top. From the bright paint and tilt front end to the big-horsepower engine and partial tube chassis, Kenny built his truck with one purpose in mind: to compete in the Ultimate Callout Challenge. “I really liked the idea of building a UCC truck,” says Kenny. “In addition to those types of events, I can still do dyno events, and when I can’t sled pull I can drag race. When I can’t drag race, I can pull. You can just use the vehicle for so many things,”
