There are a number of ways to increase the power output of an engine to the wheels, but proper gear multiplication is one way to really take advantage of the engine power. Changing the overall gear ratio of a vehicle changes the top speed, the rate of acceleration, and the power to the wheels (the ability to do work). Here’s everything you need to know about gearing.
More and more truck owners are hanging on to their old trucks and getting more use out of them by reinvesting in some repairs and upgrades like never before. While it may not be as comfortable or as quiet to drive, the 1994-1998 12-valve Cummins will always be a workhorse when properly taken care of. Here’s how to get more power than the new trucks, safe and smart, with a 12-Valve Cummins.
Truck racing takes many forms and the main three being drag racing, pulling competitions, and monster truck races. Removing the last trapped quart from the Duramax, with PPE’s Upgraded Oil Pan
Some don’t realize that the stock GM pans have a depression that resides below the drain plug. This “valley” retains old oil even when the plug is removed and you think you have all the dirty oil flushed from your internals. As it turns out, as much as half a quart remains. This is true for every year 6.6L Duramax. Here’s PPE’s fix for getting that last quart of filth out of the Dmax’s oil pan.
Alternate Fire Cam: Strengthen A Duramax by Changing the Firing Order
The main reason for modifying the Duramax firing order with the camshaft is to relieve stress on the front portion of the crankshaft in higher performance applications. The factory firing is 1-2-7-8-4-5-6-3, but this new camshaft design changes that to 1-5-6-3-4-2-7-8. Changing an engine’s firing order isn’t a new science, as GM gas guys have been doing it for years.

This is the result.
