2005 Ford Super Duty
When we talk about “real world” trucks, you can’t get a better example than Chrystal Vargas’ 2005 Ford Super Duty. Chrystal hails from Port Hueneme, California, and her regular cab 4×4 is fully set up for off-road. The big Ford sports an 8-inch Fabtech radius arm kit and 6-inch Fabtech springs out back. Bilstein 5100 shocks control the wheel movement from 37-inch Toyo Open Country M/Ts mounted on Mickey Thompson classic 16×9-inch wheels. ARB lockers front and rear, and 4:88 gearing helps turn the huge rubber.
Under the hood, the 6.0L gets help in the power department from an MBRP exhaust and AFE air intake, while Sniper Tuning provided the tunes. Dual electric fans supplement the stock engine fan when the going gets slow and steep. Full Isspro instrumentation keeps track of engine water temp, trans temp, turbo boost, oil pressure and EGTs.
Other upgrades including an ARB front bumper, complete with a Warn 15000 winch, onboard air system, a Monster Hook for vehicle rescue and even a set of train horns.

When your dad owns a diesel shop—Strictly Diesel in Phoenix, Arizona—it only stands to reason that daddy’s little girl will own one as well. Believe it or not, for Baylee Reblin of Peoria, Arizona, the diesel was her choice, but dad is more than willing to use it as a hot rod guinea pig. The OBS is in pretty decent shape, getting all new lenses and a billet grille.
Under the hood, the 7.3L Power Stroke is fitted with a Driven Diesel fuel bowl delete and regulated return system, complete with prototype electric fuel pump, DP Tuner multi-position performance chip, Diamond Eye 4-inch turbo back exhaust system and a custom intake.
Baylee’s daily driver is set up for comfort as well as style with a Pioneer CD/iPod head unit backed up by Pioneer speakers. The latest additions to the truck include and new door panels and custom American Flag headliner
1997 Ford F-350
When you live on a 1,000-head dairy farm in Hico, Texas, your diesel is all about work, unless your Lacie Sublett, wife of Entee Sublett, who believes you can still own a work truck with style. The well-worked OBS Ford, which is pushing a half-million miles, started life as a 4×2 and was eventually converted to 4×4. The truck rolls 37-inch tires wrapped around 17-inch KMC Rockstar wheels, thanks to added clearance from an RSK 3-inch lift kit. A set of 4.10s in each diff turns the tires.
The upper end of 7.3L was rebuilt once, and fitted with a straight pipe exhaust for performance and towing ability. A well-worn automatic is complemented by a well-worn interior, according to Entee, since it’s a daily driver work truck on a farm. Other mods include a Complete Performance steel bumper, Summit Racing grille and upgraded head and taillights. The truck is a regular on the Texas diesel circuit and the couple has even hosted a sled pull on their farm.
2002 Chevy 2500 LB7 Duramax
Heather is a true farm girl from Richland Center, Wisconsin, who’s not afraid of hard work or getting dirty, both on the 80-acre dairy farm and on the sled pulling track. She’s built her 2002 LB7 for both, putting in the right ingredients to make her a winner in the Midwest Truck and Tractor Puller Association where she currently run third in points in 2.5 Work Stock Diesel in her first year of competition.
The LB7 features EFI Live turning by Dan’s Diesel Performance with a 100-horse street tune and 275-horse sled pulling tunes on tap. A 4-inch MBRP exhaust exits via a 6-inch tip while a PPE boost valve and Banks BigHead waste gate keeps the boost pressures up. Adequate fuel is provided via an AirDogII 165 lift pump. Backing up the LB7 is a ZF6 speed manual fitted with a Valair sintered iron dual disc clutch. A Merchant Automotive transfer case pump rub upgrades keeps the case alive.
Other mods including Cognito Pitman and Idler arm braces, Merchant automotive tire rod sleeves, 2-inch wheel spacers, custom-painted Hummer H2 wheels, and aftermarket hitch from Big Chevy Hitch.com and 305/65R17 BFGs at each corner. The truck has laid down more than 1,200 ft-lb of torque on the dyno and 555 horsepower.
