Features:
K&N's AirCharger intake systems uses an oversized cone air filter that captures and holds more dirt than replacement filters, increasing the service life before a cleaning is required. It also isolates the high-flowing reusable air filter from high engine temperature with a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower. Backed by K&N's Million-Mile Warranty, the filter mates to a rotationally molded tube made from interlaced High Density Polyethylene. This process allows K&N to precisely shape the tube to reduce turbulence and accelerate airflow into the engine, and they are specifically engineered for each application. The tube is connected to the engine with adapters made from high strength materials such as silicon and reinforced nylon to ensure a long life.

Installation Time: 40 Minutes

Installation Notes: K&N ships the filter already pre-oiled so there is no need to wash or oil it any more. And when it does come time to service the filter, make sure not to over-oil it. It sounds elementary, but the biggest part of people having problems with aftermarket filters requiring oil comes from improper servicing.

Impressions: After installing the FIPK AirCharger intake and running it on the dyno, the graph showed that at no point did the K&N piece make less than the factory air intake system. While peak gains were 4.43 hp and 9.79 ft-lb, the LBZ picked up 12.93 hp and 24.68 ft-lb at 2,750 rpm. The gains were even larger between 2,300 and 2,500 rpm, where there was about an extra 20 hp and 28 lb-ft through the range. On the top end, the intake stopped making power slightly earlier than we expected, indicating to us that maybe we didn't give the factory computer enough time to "learn" and compensate for the added airflow.
