Keeping with the theme of adding parts either painted red or polished, Mata is running a custom, polished exhaust from RBP. The 4-inch piping shines as much as the wheels and suspension components do as exhaust fumes head through the mandrel-bent tubing to a one-off 5-inch RBP tip, exiting in front of the right rear tire. The tip is not only black ceramic coated, it uniquely cut making it special to Mata's Chevy. Accompanying the exhaust is an Eliminator Power Programmer from RBP, offering five levels of power adjustment adding between 40 and 155 extra horsepower to the rear wheels. As the doors open up, the Amp Research motorized running boards drop down and allow passengers to step into a cabin where the red paint and other unique touches continue. Ernie at Quality Upholstery in Riverside, Calif. covered the headliner in suede. He also added suede to all of the seats and stitched a design into the seatbacks that Mata drew up himself. From there, Modern Image took over with the audio and visual equipment. Installed behind the rear seats are two JL Audio subwoofers in a custom fiberglass enclosure and a JL Audio four-channel amplifier powering the rear door speakers and the front Focal components. Modern Image mounted the Focal components in custom fiberglass kick panels that received the same red paint and airbrush work as the sub enclosure. Lifting up the seat reveals a pair of 500-watt JL Amplifiers and a 5 farad capacitor from Alumapro. Another hidden piece of the sound system is an additional subwoofer stealthily installed in the center console. Controlling the audio system is an Alpine IVA-W200 double-DIN receiver that plays DVDs, MP3s and CDs. It also feeds a video signal to a 9-inch flip down LCD monitor mounted in the suede headliner. If there's one thing Mata's truck really excels at, it's going over the top without really going over the top. The one-off suspension is at home jumping around in the dirt with its 15 inches of travel, but it isn't so high that he'd need a crane to get into truck. The red color-matched theme is strategically placed on select components to be tasteful without being gaudy. The audio system will make ears bleed when it's turned up all the way, but carefully placed so there isn't a huge loss of room. In short, it leaves the competition in the dust in more ways than one. Though it's not powered by a flat 12-cylinder, we think Enzo would be happy with the finished product, too. |
